International: WIPO provides information on Alternative Dispute Resolution methods

On November 17, 2023, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in collaboration with the Music Rights Awareness Foundation (MRAF), announced the creation of the CLIP platform (Creators Learn Intellectual Property). The purpose of this platform is to provide intellectual property rights holders with information about their rights to ensure fair recognition and compensation.

According to information on the website, the platform will be internationally available in six languages for free starting in 2024. They note that it will initially focus on the music industry but aim to expand its scope to include the literary sector, audiovisual industry, and performing arts.

Through the platform, users can access resources to understand the music industry ecosystem. The website is organized into sections covering topics such as composition, recording, intellectual property rights, and rights transfer. It also includes a collections section comprising a group of articles with general information on various topics related to the industry.

Additionally, the platform provides information on different dispute resolution methods, highlighting Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) such as mediation. In November 2022, Instituto Autor, in collaboration with the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, launched "MEDIAUTOR" to provide specialized mediation services for conflicts arising in the field of cultural creations and projects, specifically related to intellectual property and cultural industries, as well as disputes over image rights.

It's worth noting that in 2021, WIPO and MRAF developed "WIPO for Creators" to support authors in receiving fair compensation for their work. This initiative included the development of a platform to inform and help creators understand the workings of creative industries.
