The Andalusian Regional Government advocates for mediation to reduce litigation

In June 2023, as part of the First Mediation Conference organized by the Andalusian Regional Government, the Director General of Juvenile Justice and Cooperation advocated for the use of mediation as an alternative to reduce the "high litigation rate."

The conference, held in Marbella, was organized by the Interdisciplinary Mediation Association, a service launched by the Ministry of Justice to promote mediation and provide guidance on its use. Magistrates, prosecutors, lawyers, and mediators participated in the event to analyze "The Challenges of Mediation in the 21st Century."

According to the press release, the Andalusian Regional Government highlighted that the Ministry of Justice, Local Administration, and Public Function is promoting extrajudicial conflict resolution, stating that it helps reduce conflicts and provides satisfactory solutions for the parties involved. They also informed that the Andalusian Regional Government has recently incorporated mediation into the Free Legal Aid system.

As we have been mentioning at Mediautor, mediation offers several advantages, including being a faster process, maintaining confidentiality, having lower costs, and reduced reputational costs for the losing party.
