The Instituto Autor and the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center are organizing the webinar 'Mediation as a Tool for Resolving Authorship Disputes

The Instituto Autor and the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center have organized the webinar entitled "Mediation as a Tool for Resolving Authorship Disputes," which will be held online on May 10, 2023, at 6:00 PM.

As mentioned in the interview with Marisa Castelo, President of the Instituto Autor, mediation offers more efficient procedures and absolute confidentiality, reducing the reputational cost for the losing party. These are matters that require professional mediators who seek an agreement between the parties outside of the judicial process.

Furthermore, the webinar is based on the interest generated by the recent judicial ruling in the authorship claim of Paco de Lucía. As a result, the usefulness and advantages of mediation in resolving conflicts related to the authorship of intellectual property works, even during the enforcement phase of a judgment, will be analyzed.

Regarding the speakers, it will be conducted by Ignacio de Castro, Director of the Intellectual Property Disputes and External Relations Division at the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, and Marisa Castelo, President of the Author's Institute.
