The Instituto Autor collaborates in the DENAE Forum on "Mediation Solutions in Intellectual Property and Technology Law."

On June 7, 2023, the Spanish Association of Entertainment Law (DENAE), in collaboration with the Instituto Autor, Mediautor, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, and the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), will organize the forum "Mediation Solutions in Intellectual Property and Technology Law Conflicts." The event will take place from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at the Manuel de Falla Hall of the Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (SGAE) - Fernando VI Street, 4 - and can be attended in person or online.

The forum aims to analyze mediation as an alternative dispute resolution method in sectors such as audiovisual, new technologies, data economy, etc. It will highlight the main advantages of mediation, such as the speed in reaching a solution, the confidentiality of the process, and the high specialization of mediators, making mediation an increasingly attractive alternative for resolving conflicts in the technology sector and cultural industries.

Additionally, the approval of a Law on Procedural Efficiency Measures of the Public Service of Justice (Ley de Medidas de Eficacia Procesal del Servicio Público de Justicia), which imposes higher costs on parties that do not attempt mediation prior to initiating legal actions, will also be addressed.

To address these issues, a roundtable discussion will be moderated by Javier Fernández - Lasquetty Miranda, partner at ELZABURU and member of the Board of Directors of DENAE.

Regarding the panelists, the forum will feature the participation of Carmen Castilla Velasco - Advisory Board Member and Secretary of the First Section of the Intellectual Property Commission, Subdirector General of Intellectual Property, Director General of Cultural Industries, Intellectual Property, and Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Sports; Marisa Castelo García - President of the Instituto Autor and Partner at Legalarte, who will also analyze the MEDIAUTOR project - a Mediation Center specialized in intellectual property and cultural industries developed in collaboration with WIPO; and Ignacio de Castro Llamas - Director of Intellectual Property Disputes and External Relations Division at the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, who will address the extensive activities of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center.

To attend the event, prior registration is required via email at info@denae.es, indicating the chosen format.
